Two Democratic cents worth on Coburn from Nikkii Adams

The following is an email from Nikkii Adams

The following post was originally sent to Kevin Ivers in response to a post he had sumbitted to gaynet. I responded to it, giving him my opinion of (p)resident Bush's choice of former Congressman Tom Coburn to head up the new AIDS Advisory Committee...

Your article about the AIDS advisory committee, I hope will prove to be an interesting read. However, let me enlighten you a bit as to Thomas Coburn. He is a former Second District congressman from the so-called 'great state of OK'. I say that, because I reside in OK, luckily, though, not in that district.

Back in February 97, NBC television decided to televise the movie, Schindler's List. Remember that one, about the German who during WWII decided to help hide a great many Jews from certain death at the hands of the Nazis. WELL, when it was televised, NBC decided to do it compleat, uncut and commercial free. That meant that any and all of the voilence, the nudity or whatever, was shown.

Mr(?) Coburn got totally bent out of shape because of that. It wasn't the violence that offended him; NO, it was the nudity. He went on an outrageous tirade aimed at NBC saying that they shouldn't have televised a movie that showed any type of nudity at an hour in the evening in which children might have witnessed it.

He wasn't concerned about the violence that the Nazis inflicted on the Jews, it was that there were people in the nude in the gas chambers or wherever else they were.

This is the same man that Bush has chosen to be a member of that committee. If he is offended by nudity and whether or not children witness it; what chance does anybody who needs help in coping with the stigma of AIDS have. My guess; VERY FUCKIN' LITTLE.

Just my two Democratic cents worth,

Nikkii Adams
