- If you are not
familiar with advertising on the Internet, I
strongly recommend that you invest some time
in researching the field. Over the past
several years, a number of standardized
practices and procedures have been developed
for the Internet to enable advertisers to get
the most out of their marketing efforts in
the medium. The website of the Interactive
Advertising Bureau is an excellent place to
start. You can also email
me
with any questions, of course.
Prices:
- Banner ad: $25
for 2 weeks or $15 for 1 week.
- Pop-up ad: $25
for 1 week.
- Production: $5
per ad.

Ad types
& Placement:
- Banner space at
the top of the Index (or Home) and News pages
is available on a first-come, first-served
basis only.
- While banner
ads at the top of these page are the most
popular, that does not mean they are
necessarily the most effective way to
advertise on GayOKC.com. Other types of ads
are readily available and may be as effective
or more effective - including banners lower
down on the page, as well as Pop-up Windows
and Skyscrapers, and I will be more than
happy to discuss how you can get the most out
of them.
- Pop-up Windows
will download and appear in front of the Home
page at the same time as the Home page is
downloading.
- Skyscrapers or
Vertical Banners may be placed in the columns
on the side of the page.
- For info on
standard ad types and sizes for the Internet,

website's page on Interactive
Marketing Units.
Procedures:
- When you first
contact me about advertising on GayOKC.com, I
will work with you to determine what type of
advertising would be most effective for your
particular marketing needs. I will also ask
what method of payment you prefer.
- I will then
email you a quote with prices and scheduling.
- If you accept
the quote, I will prepare a contract and
email it to you for your approval. If you
desire any changes, I will amend the contract
before I ask for your signature.
- Upon signing
the contract, I will then send you an
invoice, at which time you may pay for your
ad. I will not ask for payment before then
because I want you to have every chance to
make whatever changes you desire before the
contract is actually signed. This is your ad
and I want to be sure that you are going to
be satisfied with it before I accept your
money.
- I prefer to
conduct as much business by email as possible.

- I strongly
recommend getting started on this process at
least 2 weeks before the date you want your
ad to go online.
- I reserve the
right to reject any ad or any advertiser for
any reason.
- I welcome press
releases, but please do not send me graphics
you have had produced as ads for other venues
expecting me to place them on GayOKC.com as
editorial content rather than as paid
advertising. I cannot do that.
Payment
method:
- Ads may be paid
for by check or cash.
- If paying by
mail, please allow at least one week for your
payment to reach me.
- All
advertising on GayOKC.com must be paid for in
advance. I must receive some kind of
verification of your payment before I can
place your ad online.
- Please do not
send any money until after
the contract has been finalized.
Production:
- Advertisers are
welcome and encouraged to create and supply
their own ads. You don't have to let me do it
for you. Since I'm doing this by myself and
only in my spare time, it can actually make
it easier on both of us when you supply your
own ad, whether you create it yourself or
delegate it to an outside supplier.
- The standard
size for banner ads on the Internet is 468
pixels wide by 60 pixels high.
- There is no
standard size for pop-up ads. Some
consideration should be given, however, to
making sure the entire ad fits into a browser
window at 800 x 600 resolution. I personally
would recommend something no larger than
about 500 pixels in height. File size should
not exceed 50 kb.
- Sizes for other
types of ads are negotiable. For more info on
other ads, visit the Interactive Advertising
Bureau website's page on Interactive
Marketing Units.
- Ads may be
static or animated.
- Ads must be jpg
or gif.
- File size
should be as small as possible (without
degrading image quality) so that the ad loads
as quickly as possible. I reserve the right
to reject any ad that I feel slows down the
loading of GayOKC.com too much. Banners
should not exceed 10kb, pop-ups 50kb.
- Production
charges apply only to ads that are actually
selected by the customer to go online. They
do not apply to rough drafts or rejected
ideas. The charge for production is $5 per
finished ad.
