The following is a press release from the OKC Metro Choral Association
(Posted 3-24-01)Some of the truly perplexing questions of the ages will be addressed by the OKC Metro-Women's Chorus at their "April Fools" cabaret show on March 31. Partners4 Club at 2805 NW 36th Street will host the chorus as they ask, "Why Do Fools Fall in Love?" and "Will you still need me, will you still feed me when I'm sixty-four?" "We're not even calling this one a concert," said Don Clothier, Artistic Director, "We want to emphasize the fun we have in the chorus, even when we're working hard on new music! Hopefully, this will become an annual event, like the Men's Chorus' 'My Tardy Valentine'." The program begins promptly at 8:00 p.m. with tickets priced at $5.00, available at the door.
The OKC Metro-Men's Chorus is busy preparing for their next appearance, at the Mr. Sooner State Leather Contest, April 21 at the Copa. The Chorus has been asked to perform the National Anthem along with a short performance of other music. "I don't want to get too specific yet, but we're looking at putting together a special version of 'My Favorite Things' that's, shall we say, tailored specifically for this event," Clothier said.
The Choruses are always looking for people who like to sing. If that's you, the women's chorus rehearses from 7:30 -9:30 Thursday evening at Epworth United Methodist Church and the men on Sunday afternoons from 4:00 to 6:00. But watch out - if you come for a visit, you'll wind up staying for a while!
