Project NEXT: A
Regional Economic Evolution - 3:30PM,
Cox Convention Center, downtown OKC. The Oklahoma
City Chamber of Commerce is hosting a town hall meeting as
part of its Human Capital and Diversity
initiative. Participants will discuss discuss
diversity, opportunity and economic growth in
Oklahoma City. The Chamber says it is seeking
help to develop strategies that will attract
educated and talented individuals.
This is apparently the second stage in a process
that was started at a meeting with members of the
GLBT Community on Sunday, August 22 at the Sonic
building in Bricktown. PFLAG OKC president Rob
Howard played a role in organizing that meeting.
According to the Project
NEXT page
on the Chamber's website, "Chamber Chairman
Burns Hargis has placed special emphasis on this
initiative. This is a Chamber workforce
development initiative that complements ongoing
economic development initiatives." "Successful
economic development requires not only aggressive
recruitment of business and industry but must
also recruit the right people. The project will
develop and begin to implement an aggressive
strategy to grow and attract people to Central
Oklahoma who will fuel economic growth for
decades."
The meeting is open to the public. For
information, contact Kari Sonnichsen at ksonnichsen@okcchamber.com or call 297-8959.
