GNL TRAVEL NEWS
March 2002
WEBSITE NEWS
For those of you who have tried to locate us on the
web lately, we apologize. Our host had some severe
problems and we had to get a new one. In the process,
we have also changed our address. The new site
address is www.gnltravel.net. It is up and running
and George is making changes as I write this. If you
have any ideas on how to make the site better, please
do not hesitate to write us at info@gnltravel.net. Our whole concept for
the site is to provide information that you our
clients want, so this is really your site and we need
your input as to what you want.
RSVP
RSVP has just announced the dates for their Club RSVP
in Cancun for 2002. They have chosen to return to
Club Med Cancun, November 9-16, again for many
reasons - incredible beaches, excellent food, easy
and affordable air, a myriad of excursion options and
on of the best array of physical activity options in
North America. This year the price starts at $799
that is $100 less than last year. If you are thinking
of Club RSVP as a great fall getaway then please
contact us early. These are very popular and space
goes quickly.
For more information or if you would like one of the
new RSVP brochures when they are available in late
March, just let us know.
GAY GAMES
Just a quick update on the Gay Games to be held in
Sydney Australia this coming November. As of
Feb 25, there were 7,987 athletes registered for the
games. Hotel space is rapidly becoming a real source
of concern due the fact that there will be over 250,000
people in attendance. At this time we have 23
athletes from Team OK-USA and 15 supporters scheduled
to go from Oklahoma. We are currently holding space
for a total of 40 people. That means we only have
room for 13 more people. So if you are wanting to
travel with the Oklahoma delegation, please contact
us soon.
We will be leaving on October 29 and are returning
November 10th. Due to the time changes and the
international dateline, that is a total of 11 days in
Sydney. This new departure date allows us to spend
Halloween in Sydney.
NEW ORLEANS CRUISE
GNL is proud to announce that we are offering a
"gay friendly" cruise on board Carnival
Cruise Lines ship the Inspiration. It will be leaving
the port of New Orleans on September 9th for seven
days. We will visit Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, Playa
Del Carmen and Cozumel returning to New Orleans. The
total price for this cruise is only $785 per person;
this includes all port charges and taxes.
Carnival is one of the most gay friendly cruise lines
in the industry and has offered this rate to GNL as
an introduction to their New Orleans departures. We
currently have space for 40 guests but as the group
grows we do have options on additional space. The
deposit for this cruise is only $100! For more
information call us soon.
PLAN AHEAD
Due to the huge changes in the Travel Industry since
September 11, the need to book early is more
important than ever. With several tour companies,
cruise lines and others closing their doors and
company mergers within the industry, along with the
recent surge in people traveling again, the demand at
this time is growing. Many of the gay and lesbian
offerings have become come more exciting and better
values. While the rest of the industry was declining,
the GLBT travel industry stayed the course and held
true, making others realize that we are a strong
community who have learned to hold our heads high and
continue forward in the face of all challenges. This
desire to travel has given the community more and
better opportunities to be recognized as a valued
client. Plan ahead, get your information, and book
early for the best buys. Many of the "bargain"
travel deals are still there but fading fast. As more
people start traveling the prices go up and the space
gets limited. So book early!
THANKS
During the last three months, George and I have had
serious discussions on whether to add one more agency
to the long list of agencies that have closed.
However, due to the continued support of our gay and
lesbian clients, we feel that we owe it to you to
stay here. Without your continued support there would
be no gay and lesbian exclusive agency in the area.
So please accept our thanks,
Steve And George
