Internships at GayOKC.com xxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Internships are now available at GayOKC.com. Internships are open to all students seeking experience in Journalism and Advertising. Depending on the response to this program, I may also relaunch my Internet radio show, GayOKC LIVE! In that event, I will be able to offer internships in Broadcasting, as well.

Opportunities for work experience at GayOKC.com will be available in the following areas:

All interns must live in the Oklahoma City vicinity. Interns must have access to a computer with Internet access and email.

ALL WORK MUST BE SUBMITTED BY EMAIL!

All interns must have access to a car. Advertising interns must have access to a computer with graphics software, in addition to Internet access and email. Interns interested in photojournalism must have their own camera (digital preferred).

Journalism interns will have the challenge of dealing almost exclusively with issues still widely considered to be sensitive and controversial, and reporting on them with respect and dignity. You will be responsible for interviewing sources, writing articles and fact-checking. Finished articles must be submitted by email. Deadlines will vary. In-depth articles will require days or weeks to complete, while other stories involving breaking news may need to be available for immediate upload as the story is actually happening. Journalism interns will be given the opportunity to cover a wide range of events and situations, thus reporting on the entire spectrum of life in Oklahoma City's GLBT Community. As such, you will be required to travel to a wide variety of places, from the State Capitol to Oklahoma City's Gay bars - sometimes on a moment's notice - to cover events. Some of these places may restrict access to those over 21 years of age.

Advertising interns will be working at the forefront of their industry. You will have the opportunity to follow up sales leads for potential local and national accounts and help create reader surveys in addition to creating advertising for the Internet. Internet advertising is still in its infancy, giving you the opportunity to educate potential advertisers in this market about why they should include advertising on GayOKC.com in their marketing and publicity campaigns. You will have every opportunity to develop your creativity and imagination to the utmost as you work with advertisers to achieve the most effective exposure for their marketing dollar using the Internet.

I would also like people who can help me update my online databases and ensure that GayOKC.com is a reliable reference resource. There's no lack of work to do, including creating graphics, data entry, creating e-mail newsletters and updates, and more!

All work will be subject to editing by me. All internships must be either for college credit or work experience only. GayOKC.com does not currently offer paid internships (sorry!). Interns will be expected to abide by your school's guidelines and policies regarding internships.
