Susan Johnston, who has publically announced her intention to file as a candidate for the open Ward 2 city council seat in Oklahoma City will be the guest speaker at the February 10 meeting of the
Oklahoma Gay & Lesbian Political Caucus (OGLPC), beginning at 7:00 pm, at the Center, 2135 NW 39.

Susan Johnston, 44, is co-owner of Don's J&J Garage, and an active civic volunteer with urban revitalization efforts, schools and community beautification. Ms. Johnston is the business recruitment chairwoman of OKC's empowerment zone, vice chairwoman of advocacy and awareness at Oklahoma City Beautiful, president of the Denniston Park Neighborhood Association and board secretary of the Jesus House.

Johnston, an OKC native, says she wants to focus on city operations and improve efficiency.

"I feel right now where we are with our budget shortfalls and economic development, this is a very good time for me to change the role of my volunteerism and bring my talents to the city council," Johnston said.

If you live in Ward 2, currently represented by Amy Brooks who is not running for reelection, please plan on attending Monday's meeting. Or alternatively, come be the ears for a friend.
