Dear Friends,
As you may be aware, Dr. Susan Cosby and the Women's Outreach Center in the Union (at the University of Oklahoma) has agreed to sponsor a lesbian, bisexual and trans-women support and social group. The first meeting of this group will be Wednesday, January 30th at 8PM, in the Women's Outreach Center. It is located in the union, south of Meachum Auditorium, room 247.

The purpose of this group is to provide a safe space for lesbians, bisexual women and trans women to discuss and explore issues central to our particular lives and experiences, and to be able to socialize and meet other such women on campus and in the community.

This group has grown from repeated complaints from queer women that GLBTF does not meet their particular needs, and is possibly incapable of being as specific to women's issues as is desired. We hope to remedy that situation in order to strengthen the participation of women in GLBTF.

During the first meeting, we will be attempting to come up with a name for the group, and working out the finer points as to where and when to continue to meet, how often, and other programming, both educational and social.

It would be helpful if this information could be distributed in some way, and by word of mouth. If you know anyone who might be interested, please encourage them to come to the meeting. If you have questions, please feel free to call.

The group is not restricted to OU students, faculty and staff. Other members of the community are welcome as well. Please call or email kmbain@ou.edu for driving and on-campus directions, if necessary.
