Soulforce In Oklahoma Vigil

On Saturday, February 2nd, Soulforce In Oklahoma will conduct the next training in nonviolent principles and direct actions at Church of the Open Arms, 3131 N. Penn, OKC. The training will be 2-6:30 pm. We will conduct the next vigil on Sunday, February 3rd at Village Baptist Church, 10600 N. May, OKC. You must attend a training session in order to participate in the vigil.

There were 50 people who participated in the first vigil on Sunday, January 6th. Let's make it 100 this next time!

We are confronting in a nonviolent way, the very source of our oppression - religious teachings and policies. As Paul Barby has said, "You need to participate. This is our Rosa Parks event, our march to Birmingham, if you will. This is not about religion; it is about bigotry taught by religion to people who do not know us. They must get to know us. Soulforce, like Ghandi and King, is effective in its use of gentle yet powerful persuasion. Come for the training on Saturday, February 2, and then join us in the vigil February 3. Your life will be transformed."

Homosexuality And Scripture
CONFERENCE > Mar 1 & 2, Church of the Open Arms, 3131 N Pennsylvania. Seven welcoming congregations will be contributing to a HOMOSEXUALITY AND SCRIPTURE conference to be held over the weekend of March 1-2, 2002. Topics ranging from general issues around interpretation to a more specific focus on certain Biblical passages will be available for participants to explore. Open Arms UCC has generously donated the use of their wonderful new worship facility for this conference. Beginning on Friday evening at 7 PM on March 1, and continuing until mid-afternoon on Saturday, March 2, the conference will also blend times of worship and reflection with the offered workshops. Registration information will be forthcoming.
