CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATES SHOW
INTEREST IN GLBT VOTE I've received information from the Oklahoma Gay and Lesbian
Political Caucus which I hope bodes well for
GLBT constituents in Oklahoma City's Ward 2. 2 of the
candidates for that seat in the upcoming City Council
election will be speaking at the next 2 meetings of
OGLPC. Susan Johnston will speak at the Feb 10
meeting and Sam Bowman will speak at the Mar 10
meeting. Bowman is known to be the personal favorite
of current Ward 2 councilperson Amy Brooks, who is
not seeking reelection. OGLPC's announcement is now
online at www.gayokc.com/oglpc020403.htm.
In a related story, 2 OGLPC members - co-chair Paul
Thompson and Internet committee chair Jim Nimmo -
will be participating in one of the panel discussions
following performances of The Laramie Project at the
University of Central Oklahoma later this month. They
will be joining state senator Bernest Cain and
attorney Janet Halliburton at the Fri, Feb 21
performance.
ANTI-GAY BILLS IN OK
LEGISLATURE Rep Graves is at it again, demonstrating
that he has every intention of continuing to pursue
his campaign of promoting homophobia in this year's
session of the Oklahoma legislature. Graves has
introduced 2 bills that would deny Gay parents the
custody of their children and the right to adopt.
Cimarron Alliance Group president Paul Bashline's
press release is now online at www.gayokc.com/leg012903.htm
