STONEWALL DEMOCRATS BESTOW
AWARD The Central Oklahoma Stonewall Democrats
presented their inaugural Mary Lou Lemon Humanitarian
Award at the Oklahoma County Democratic Party's
Millenium Dinner on Saturday night. The award will be
presented annually to those who have demonstrated the
core values of the Democratic Party as understood by
Mary Lou Lemon, an 'unabashed liberal Democrat', who
died December 22, 2002. The inaugural award was given
to Lemon's husband, Bob Lemon, who ran for state
representative last year, and was accepted on his
behalf by their son, Chrys, who was in attendance at
the dinner with his partner.
At least 3 GLBT organizations had tables at the event
this year: the Central Oklahoma Stonewall Democrats,
the Cimarron Alliance Group and the Oklahoma Gay and
Lesbian Political Caucus.
