ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER COMING TO OKC - OPENS THIS FRIDAY AT BRIXTON SQUARE
The FILMHEADS Webmistress announced yesterday that Pedro Almodovar's newest, All About My Mother, is coming to OKC's Brixton Square Theater starting this Friday, at least in part thanks to the efforts of film fans who wrote to Brixton Square's owners, the Wallace Theaters chain, saying that they would support the showing of independent and foreign films at Brixton Square. Here is the announcement which she sent to the FILMHEADS e-mail list yesterday:

Well, never let it be said that the pen (or would that be the PC key?) is not mightier than the sword.

First of all, I want to send a special thank you to each person who took the time to write a letter to the booking department for Brixton Theatre. I know many of you did. All of our letters may have paid off. I got a call from a thrilled Brixton manager to let me know that an indie foreign film is coming this Friday.

Greg, the Brixton manager, also sends his sincere thanks and a plea for continued support. Apparently, his parent company is sending him three new Sony Classic films (indie/foreign types). It is a test case. If they are not well attended, there will be no more after the third film. And shame on us if we let that happen.

This is our chance to put some action into our whining about the lack of fine, alternative film screening in OKC. Please do not put it off!! Tell your friends, enemies and any alien sightings to get to Brixton for each of these films.

All About My Mother is the story of a woman's search for the father of her son, who has been killed in a car accident, a father she never told her son about because, though her son was named Esteban after his father, his father's name is now Lola. The film was nominated Tuesday

for the Best Foreign Film Oscar.
