OPEN LETTER TO REPUBLICANS
Did Americans vote against the Republican Party on the national level because they really thought the Democrats were any better or because they were tired of Republicans trying to out-do the Democrats at being Democrats?
Read Open Letter To Republicans by John Lewis

THE DECLINE AND FALL OF AMERICAN CONSERVATISM
Having long postured as advocates of limited government, conservatives - as exemplified by the Bush Administration - have abandoned that posture in favor of expanding government. Why have conservatives abandoned their own long-held positions? What has replaced them, and why? What will it really take to succeed at restricting the size and power of government?

CHANGES AT GAYOKC.COM
News items will no longer be posted here at GayOKC.com. From now on, the front page will focus exclusively on opinion and commentary.

There are many reasons for this, the main one being that I currently do not have the time to devote to keeping GayOKC.com updated with newsworthy items in a timely manner, and will not for the forseeable future.

Every posting that has required the creation of a new page here at GayOKC.com will continue to remain online as part of my original vision of an online archive for Oklahoma City's GLBT community. This includes material by Joe Quigley, Jim Nimmo and others - although my practice of posting more items on the front page in recent years limits the amount of more recent material that will be available.

I encourage all those who are interested in the history of our community during these past 8 years to avail themselves of the Search function, located on the Search page.

I continue to remain convinced of the viability of a daily online news service for Oklahoma City's GLBT Community, and I regret that I have been unable to organize the resources required to make that happen.

THE STATE OF OUR COMMUNITY
Not having time to devote to keeping GayOKC.com up with the news also means that I will not have time to organize a 2007 edition of
The State of Our Community. I would like, however, to invite the major GLBT organizations here in OKC - such as the Cimarron Alliance Foundation, DBA Metro and Oklahoma Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus - to consider putting together a similar event themselves.

I also invite those who have spoken at past editions of The State of Our Community to write essays on their views of our current situation, which I will post here on GayOKC.com during January.
