ELECTION TODAY: OGLPC ENDORSES METRO-TECH CANDIDATE
The following is from a newsletter recently distributed by the Oklahoma Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus: "Al McAffrey, who ran for Oklahoma City city council last year, is a candidate for the Metro Tech Board of Education (office #4). McAffrey gained one of the highest scores on OGLPC's candidate surveys for his stands on GLBT Rights in that campaign.  We strongly urge you to go to the polls on Tuesday, Feb 8, and vote for Al McAffrey.  You may vote for him if you live in the Office #4 district, which is generally from downtown OKC north to 36th Street, May Ave to Kelley Ave, and part of southeast OKC including the Crooked Oak area.
The incumbent, Elaine Schuster, sent an e-mail to other Board members and employees alleging that the only reason McAffrey was running was because he was seeking a platform for Gay and Lesbian issues, and implying that because he supported a Human Rights commission including Gays and Lesbians, he would be unfit for the job.
We are deeply offended by the implication that either to be Gay or Lesbian or to support our Civil and Human Rights is somehow immoral or makes one unfit for public trust."

OGLPC SEEKS OFFICER CANDIDATES
The Oklahoma Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus will be having its annual nomination of officers at its next meeting, Monday, February 14, 7PM, at the Center, 2135 NW 39th. Officers to be elected are male and female co-chairs, secretary, and treasurer.  OGLPC is especially looking for candidates interested in serving as female co-chair, a position which alternates from meeting to meeting with the male co-chair. Meetings are held on the second Monday of every month at the Center on 39th, in Oklahoma City.  OGLPC is non-aligned with any political party and is focused on advancing civil rights for the GLBT citizens and other minorities in the state of Oklahoma.  OGLPC networks extensively with other organizations, locally and nationally, to promote this purpose.  Officers must be paid members of OGLPC.
Those interested in running for any of the above positions can contact nominations committee chair Jim Nimmo at
violadamore@hotmail.com or OGLPC webmaster Rob Abiera at rabiera@swbell.net.
