The following is an email from Joe Quigley

(9-12-03)  I gave Mr Weldon Davis a flier about a week ago concerning YGLA (Young Gay and Lesbian Alliance). It was a copy of the same flier that I have submitted in the past and which was hung without any problem since the Gay and Lesbian Alumni of Oklahoma Public Schools presented the community bulletin board to Mr. Davis.
It was not hung, so I resubmitted another copy just the other day with an attached note saying it was being submitted in case the other had been misplaced.
The usual process has been that Mr. Davis passes a flier on to the moderator of the Student Council, and she has one of its members put it on the board.
I received the second copy back in my mailbox with an attached note from Mr. Davis stating, "I gave it to Dr. Miller." (initialed) and dated 9-12-03.
This is new. This is not past practice. And, Dr. Miller is the one who claims that there are no Gay high school students.
I asked Mr. Davis if this was a new procedure, and his response was that Dr. Miller is in charge of the Gay History Month dislay.
Come, again? The woman who said that such a display could not be put up since there are no Gay high school students, is in charge of that very display.
Do we have an admiistrator in charge of Gay things?
And, why such a procedure in this regard only. Is it not discrimination to treat any group differently than others?
IS EVERY SUBMISSION TO THE COMUNITY BULLETIN BOARD GOING TO BE TREATED THIS WAY, OR ONLY THIS ONE?
I can only assume that the clarification of the non discrimination polcy was a cruel joke perpetrated on those assumed to be morons and easily fooled when in fact it has no truth to it.
Is the superintendent ineffective and the school board not in charge? Are policies so easily ignored by administrators if they do not like, accept, or admit the existence of any group of students that they don't like?
If these kids were any other group, Black, Asian, Hispanic would they go through this?
DID THE SUPERINTENDENT LIE?
Are there any answers.
