A benefit for RAIN by a visiting company of
My Fair Lady goes on at the Copa even after a fire at the company's hotel room destroys most of their belongings. The company refuses to accept a portion of the proceeds to help make up for the fire, insisting that all of it be donated to RAIN.

RAIN benefit cancelled due to hotel fire - offices vandalized - donations needed (A correction to this story was posted after it was learned that despite the fire, the RAIN benefit went on after all)

The Justice Department is using a federal hate-crimes law for the first time in its indictments, issued today, against David Darrell Rice, who is accused of murdering 2 women in Shenandoah National Park in 1996. GLBT groups are hailing the move as "historic".
